The International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) of Sri Lanka, will be conducting its Annual Handgun Championships from August 26-29, at the SL Navy IPSC Shooting Range in Welisara
The IPSC is affiliated to the National Rifle Association (NRA) of Sri Lanka and the championships are being held to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of this connection.
The national titles this year, sanctioned as a level three international match, will be keenly contested by the top shooters in the armed forces, police and the affiliated civilian clubs in the open, standard and production divisions.
.Several Junior Shooters from the age of 11 years upwards will challenge experienced Military shooters. 15 year old Trinitian Haritha Pilapitiya and 16 year old Thomian Avishka Odayar are vying for the Junior Title, whilst 11 year old Ishira Ritigahapola is the youngest member of the National IPSC Team. There will also be a junior team of four shooters for the first time. Top Air Force lady shooter Anusha Prasadika’s participation will also be eagerly anticipated.
