AAC introduces a pathway to Aviation Engineering Degrees through Intensive Foundation Access Course.
Aviation Engineering is an incessant, lifelong passion for many individuals. Every year thousands of students who complete their primary education (O/Ls or A/Ls) decide to pursue their dream of being Aviation Engineers. As exciting as it is, a career in aviation engineering should be carefully planned out. With the appropriate coaching and guidance however, endless avenues of success await the Aviation Engineering Professional.
"A career in aviation engineering is exciting and extremely rewarding. What is needed is the correct academic qualification to enter the field. Asian Aviation Centre, through its partnership with the Kingston University of London (KU), has been offering the opportunity for local and regional students to obtain the highly recognized Aerospace Engineering Degrees from Kingston University at a fraction of the actual cost" stated Mr. Prasad Amarasinghe - Registrar of the Asian Aviation Centre (AAC).
"AAC - KU Degree courses are accredited by the UK Institution of Engineering and Technology and the AAC - KU partnership is in operation since 1997. One of the unique features of this programme is that it offers numerous pathways of entry to the Degree programme" Mr. Amarasinghe further stated. "Students have the option to join the Higher National Diploma (HND) programme pending A/L results. From HND, students have the opportunity to join the 3rd year of the Degree programme and complete the Degree. This option will enable them to save one year of their time.
AAC also conducts the Intensive Foundation Access Course, parallel to the HND programme. Intensive Foundation Access Course will enable students to continue studies even if the A/L results are not very satisfactory" explained Mr. Amarasinghe.
"We have seen more than once that students who join with various other entry paths, without having the qualification to enter directly, are the ones who excel in academic studies after a few months. In this context, entry through Foundation Access Course is a very good opportunity to students who have not performed well at A/Ls but willing to put on hard work and willing to become degree qualified engineers" Mr. Amarasinghe further explained.
However, what are the future prospects for a student newly joining into a study programme in aviation engineering?
"The industry is on an upward trend and several leading airlines have placed huge bulk orders for aircrafts and are seeking aviation professionals, especially engineers to supplicate the increased demand for air travel around the world. Therefore, besides excellent international scope for career advancement, a lucrative and exciting career awaits qualified aviation engineering students" stated Mr. Dhananjaya Weerasinghe - Director Studies of the Asian Aviation Centre He further stated, that Emirates Airlines recently ordered 30 Boeing 777-300ER's to cater to the increased air travel and Emirates has announced that they require several pilots and a multitude of engineers to cater to the increasing demand.
Sri Lankan Airlines is currently experiencing a rapid increase in air traffic and with fresh routes opening an increase in demand for specialized engineering personnel is inevitable. Airbus recently announced that they had received an initial order for 50 Airbus A380 aircrafts, which was the first order of a large portfolio within three years. All these orders fuel the demand for more aptly qualified Engineering personnel within the industry.
"AAC offers an internationally recognised Engineering qualification from the University of Kingston which carries significant weight when students apply for jobs even in an international market. And since the remuneration packages are extremely attractive, this only adds further incentive to the number of students taking up a career in aviation engineering each year" the Director Studies further stated.
"A positive outlook in business particularly in the Middle East & Far East has been contributory to the growth of the aviation industry. We foresee the demand for aviation engineers to grow even further during the upcoming years, and we believe in preparing students to take their place among the best in the industry" excitedly concluded Mr. Weerasinghe. Within the thriving aviation industry, students with a yearning to become aviation engineers have a great chance to start a degree and coast into a high paying career in just a few short years.
Asian Aviation Centre Engineering Academy (AACEA) is affiliated with the University of Kingston to offer accredited degree courses in Engineering to local students and is the only organization dedicated to provide academic and career oriented study programmes in Aviation Engineering in Sri Lanka. Thus, regardless of the level of the performance at A/Ls, a career in aviation engineering can become a reality with AAC.
