MACO awards at GOH

MACO Sri Lanka Special Awards 2010 organized by Mass Communicators Association of Sri Lanka was held recently at Grand Oriental Hotel.

The award ceremony was organized to felicitate veterans in the media and persons with outstanding achievements in the Business Sector and the guest for the event were Internationally renowned cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya and the Governor of the Western Province, Alavi Mawlana.

Among the award winners at this year MACO awards were Rohan Jayasinghe, Chairman, Grand Oriental Hotel and Luxman Silva- CEO- DFCC from ‘Business Sector’ and Deepal Abayasekara, Head of Marketing and Public Affairs, Peoples Bank and Nandana A.Wickrama Group Director and Head of Marketing and Sales, Ceylon Biscuits Limited were winners of the ‘Sales and  Marketing’ category. Buddika Kulasekara from Swarnawahini and Chathura Alwis from Derana TV won awards from the Media category.

‘Birthday Boy’ Kirthi Sri Karunaratne on ‘Celeb Chat’

Sri Lanka’s celebrated and legendary couturier Kirthi Sri Karunaratne takes the spotlight on in a one-to-one chat with Kumar de Silva at 9.30 pm on Monday 22 November on Prime TV’s ‘Celeb Chat’.

A fashion icon in his own right, Kirthi Sri recalls his debut into fashion designing as an Ananda College schoolboy, and, the long and colourful journey thereon.

This was journey which took him to Paris where he worked in the House of Christian Dior, to Rome where he worked with designer Emilio Schubert, and to London to work with couturier John Cavenagh. Listen to him chat about the “good ole days” when horse races were held in Colombo and fashions held sway, his forays on stage at the Lionel Wendt Theatre, his appearance on the silver screen, notably in ‘Colomba Sanniya’ as Mr. Nirwasthara etc. The repeat telecast of Celeb Chat will be aired on Tuesday 23 November at 3.00 AM, 11.00 am and 8.00 pm.

SLOW JAM

The Park Street Mews in association with Events Inc. will present ‘Slow Jam’, a music fest on Sunday, 28 November from 4.oopm onwards out on the cobbled street.

‘Slow Jam’, promises an early afternoon to late evening music festival dedicated to the pioneers of music, the perfect getaway to all genres of music from different era’s & will take you down memory lane with a talented group of local artistes. With a mix of the country’s most professional artistes to budding talent, the stage will open up getting you in the right mood to jam.

Those billed to perform are: Cynosure, Missing Link, Beat Drummers, Trans Jazz Quartet and Traditional Dance Performances- Feel Sri Lanka

The choice of Park Street Mews as the official venue couldn’t have been far from perfect with its chic surroundings, enclosed walk way and unique character that can only complement an event of this nature.

Rupees One Million winner

Mr. Don  Rupasiri is the latest winner of the one million rupee from ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire’ which is telecasted on Sirasa TV every Saturday and Sunday from 9.00 p.m.

Mr. Rupasiri won one million rupees after answering fourteen questions correctly. The picture shows him receiving his one million rupee cash prize from MTV/MBC Group Director Ms, Nedra Weerasinghe.
