‘Megamind’ latest animation movie of DreamWorks which presented Shrek,” “Madagascar” and “Kung Fu Panda” is now being screened at the Savoy cinema, Wellawatte.
Directed by Tom McGrath, the film is produced by Lara Breay and Denise Nolan Cascino and stars Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt, Tina Fey and Jonah Hill.
The brilliant and diabolical super-villain Megamind has been attempting to conquer Earth for over 20 years but, each time, he’s been thwarted by his arch nemesis, the caped superhero Metro Man.
The film talks about superheroes and super villains. Looks like people have finally got fed up with the goody-goody films and also superhero films, and after Despicable Me, Megamind is another that tries to look inside the brain of a super villain. Megamind is a super villain who is very powerful and is always trying to capture Metrocity but fails because of Metro Man who is the saviour of the city.
The story is essentially about the battle between good and evil, but surprisingly in this film, evil prevails. One day, Megamind succeeds in his evil machinations and kills Metro Man. But after achieving what he had been unable to for a long time, Megamind suddenly realizes that there is nothing more to do in his life and his bored to the hilt. What he so dearly liked to achieve suddenly becomes the worst act of his life.
To overcome his boredom, Megamind creates another superhero called Titan who is bigger and stronger than Metro Man. Titan is his new foe and starts playing his old games with Titan. But as fate would have it, Titan has a change of heart and starts to feel that being a villain is much more fun than being a superhero and he decides to destroy the world. He is in no mood to rule the world; he just wants to destroy it. Megamind is faced with a predicament.
Should he move ahead and destroy his own creation and thereby save the world? For the first time in his life Megamind takes a smart decision and behaves like a superhero. He becomes an unlikely hero in the end of the film. The scenario is very overwhelming for Megamind as he is seen being felicitated as a new hero of Metrocity. |
