Former Navy Chief, envoy to Japan

Former Navy Commander and later Highways Ministry Secretary Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda (Rtd.) has been designated as Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Japan.

His is among several other persons whose names have been referred to the Parliamentary Committee on High Posts to examine the suitability of candidates for appointment to State services and State corporations.

The others whose names have come before the Committee are B. M. U. D. Basnayake as Secretary, Ministry of Resettlement, W. M. V. Narampanawa as Secretary, Ministry of Minor Export Crop Promotion, J Yoosus Peiris as Chairman, Rubber Research Board, Dr. Sunil Jayasekara as Chairman, Chilaw Plantations Limited, Pawara Dassanayake as Chairman, Building Materials Corporation, Udula Bandara Awsadahamy as Chairman, Institute for Construction Training and Development and S. J. Paranagama as Chairman, Sri Lanka Cement Corporation.
