Raninda and Sachin guide Wesley

Skipper Raninda Sooriyakumara and left arm spinner Sachin Jayawardena guided Wesley to an easy first inning win over Kalutara MV in their Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter concluded at Campbell Park yesterday.

Raninda had the distinction of scoring twin half tons while Sachin ended with a match bag of 9 for 68. The second day’s play saw Kalutara MV, resuming from their overnight score of 61 for 4, being bundled out for 100 in reply to Wesley’s 177.

At Kandana Rukshan Weerasinghe who made a knock of 107 which was his second successive ton helped St Benedict’s record a comfortable first inning win over De Mazenod Kandana in the match concluded at Kandana yesterday. Mazenodians resuming from their overnight score of 25 for 2 were restricted to 165 after Bens had made 257 on day one.

The encounter between S. Thomas’ and Trinity ended in a high scoring draw at Mt Lavinia yesterday. Trinity in reply to the home team’s score of 260 (resuming from their overnight score of 65 for 3) were guided by half tons from Niroshan Dickwella and Ron Chandragupta to make a score of 269.
A knock of 113 by Ananda skipper Geshan Wimaladarma was the highlight of their drawn inter-school match against St Sebastian’s which concluded at Moratuwa yesterday.

Draw at Katugastota

Good individual performances by Anthonians Hiran Wickremasekera (105 and 4 catches), Aravinda Premaratne (7 wickets and 34 runs) and Josephian Rosco Thatil (7 for 47) highlighted the drawn Murali-Vaas Trophy match at Katugastota yesterday.

The Anthonians enjoyed a 90 run lead on the first innings on the back of the skipper’s hundred. The visitors wiped off the deficit without much trouble. Samarawickrema (80) played some pleasing lofted shots.
