Funday Times - A Poem for the week

The Mantis

By Mithara Silva (12 years), St. Bridget’s Convent

Slowly, quietly it stays still,
Patiently waiting for its kill.
Looks like a leaf to ones eyes,
Waiting hidden, its prey it spies.

With its band together it would prey,
For its food, most people would say,
For most insects, it’s a terrifying sight,
It’s sure to say, that they’re up for a fright.

Massive eyes as big as its head,
Tiny antennas like pieces of bread,
Long limbs that look like sticks,
Now you know who – it’s a mantis!
