In the past, humans had nothing to wear. I think they didn’t know how to think too. But they only ate meat and drank water.
But in the age of 9000 BC, there were the first farmers in the world. They planted rice, wheat, corn and barley. They worked hard by their hands. They used sickles to cut barley and wheat.
And there were so many animals around the farms. Farmers got meat and milk from them. And at this time, the dogs were the first animals who were friendly with humans. Dogs helped humans by doing lots of work.
This is a small part of the past of the world. Humans worked hard and slowly came to the space age.
World Cup
By Kalendra Abeysinghe (8 years),

The World Cup 2011 is near by.
On February 19, begins the big fight for the trophy. There are 14 countries participating in the World Cup.
They are Sri Lanka – Captain, Kumar Sangakkara, Australia – Captain, Ricky Ponting, Zimbabwe – Captain, Elton Chigumbura, South Africa – Captain, Graham Smith, Kenya – Captain, James Kamande, Canada – Captain, Aashish Bagai, Netherlands – Captain, Peter Borren, Bangladesh – Captain, Shakib Al Hasan, Pakistan – Captain, Shahid Afridi, India – Captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, New Zealand – Captain, Daniel Vettori, Ireland – Captain, William Porterfield, England – Captain, Andrew Strauss and West Indies – Captain, Darren Sammy.
Focusing on Sri Lanka, compared to the 1996 World Cup team under the captaincy of Arjuna Ranatunga, this year’s World Cup under the
captaincy of Kumar Sangakkara, there is a very big chance for the
Sri Lanka team to bring the trophy to Sri Lanka.
Sanga Aiya is the second test
captain from our school, Trinity College. (First was Ranjan Madugalle). We are proud of our school. There are many good
batsmen, bowlers and fielders
in the Sri Lanka cricket team.
The opening batsmen are Upul Tharanga and Thilakeratne Dilshan.
I wish Sanga Aiya and all the
others in the Sri Lankan cricket team all the best for the World Cup.
The sports meet is fun
By Supuni Chamodya , (Grade 6),
R/Sri Deverakkitha College
The sports meet is an
extra-curricular activity. First we get into houses. We select house captains.
After that the house captains and the teachers select the competitors.
There are lots of events in a sports meet. They are running, long jump, high jump, cricket, netball, elle,
volleyball, hurdles, discus throw, putt shot, marathon and so on.
The sports meet is very important for children. It gives us exercise. We gain new experiences. It teaches us to be real
leaders. We get fun and avoid monotony.
We learn how to co-operate with
others. We also learn to face victory and defeat.
So the sports meet is very useful for children.
A respected Principal
By Dewmini Sirithunga (Year 6),
Sacred Heart Convent, Galle
She was a principal, a
priestess, a valuable teacher and more. She is Reverend
Sr. Rosina Nanayakkara. To most of us in the Galle district this name is a shining name.
To Sacred Heart Convent she was a principal and famous as a good, faithful teacher. Her religion is Christianity but she respected all religions alike.
She was a silent person. But in silence she has done great work. She was a kind-hearted lady. She is not with us in the world now. But I thank her for the great service she has
rendered. We all wish her to be surrounded by angels in heaven.
