Rain spells doom for women’s quad

The first ever Women’s Quadrangular cricket tournament which was scheduled to kick-off at two venues in Colombo yesterday was washed out because of heavy downpours which affected the whole island.

Sri Lanka was scheduled to take on Ireland at the Colts ground while Pakistan and Netherlands were to play each other at Moors ground. None of the officials of Sri Lanka Cricket were available to comment on the outcome of both matches which were called off.

Members of the Pakistan women’s team too seem to be in uncertainty as they spent half of yesterday watching the rain water fill up the Moors Cricket ground in Colombo.
