Dhananjana takes over the International contest

BATA-the Sunday Times Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year Contests 2011

Dhananjana Seneviratne of Gateway College Colombo contesting in the International category has pulled the biggest surprise for the 2011 contest by taking over the first position.

Dhananjana who came into the fray only in the last count is now leading with 898 votes while Gavitha Wickremasinghe of Lyceum International Wattala has slid into the second place with 452 votes while the third place has gone to Mohammed Samsoodeen Leighton Park International.

In the All Island Contest Royal’s Ramith Rambukwella seems to be a certain winner with 13150 votes against his name while in the Emerging category Kavindu Ashan Perera of Royal Panadura is yet in the lead, but is challenged by his team mate Charitha Ruchiranga who is only a few votes behind.

School authorities please note: The panel of judges and the organisers of the Bata-the Sunday Times Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year Contest have already sent each respective school with the relevant forms of performance information for 2011. Please note that the data that you send will help us immensely to arrive at the unbiased and correct decisions when the panel sits to make their picks.

Over the past thirty years this winners of this contest have gone on to accomplish bigger deeds in the field of cricket nationally and internationally. So it is with the help of the school authorities that we too can make this the success that it is. Please be good enough to send us the relevant details prior to the 30th April so that our decision will be as good as yours.
