Sri Lanka’s under-15 cricket team retained the ‘Tunkku Jaffar Trophy’ at the invitational under-15 international cricket championship organized by the Malaysian Cricket Association from April 3 to 10. The matches were played at the Biomas Oval in Kuala Lampur.
Sri Lanka also won this trophy in 2004, 2008, 2009 and 2010. Bangladesh emerged winners in 2005 and hosts Malaysia retained it in 2007.
The Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association selected this team based on the individual performances of players at last years under-15 tournament and trial matches conducted by them.
Madhawa Nimesh of Royal College, Panadura captained the Sri Lankan team while Pathum Madushanka of St. Joseph’s College, Maradana was his deputy. Madushanka was adjudged the player of the tournament for his all-round performance of 138 runs and seven wickets.
