Global Education Center well known as GEC signed an MOU with Guangxi Medical University China to recruit Sri Lankan students to the medical faculty of GMU. The MOU was singed by Mr. Amal Perera the Director GEC and Prof. Liu Qingwel the Depute Dean of GMU in Guangxi Medical University Nanning China.
With this fruitful agreement the GEC will facilitate the Sri Lankan students who are willing to study medicine in this university. The roots of GMU go back to 1934.After 75 years of development; the school has become a comprehensive medicine university which covers the fields of clinical medicine, preventive medicine, nursing, stomatology and pharmaceutical science. The number of students has reached more than 11000 in total.
The University is one of the first thirty medical institutions authorized by China Ministry of Education to enrol international students for MBBS programme in English. Since 1958, the University has warmly welcomed international students from over 54 countries.
It is very clear that a majority of Sri Lankan students, who are on to the Science stream, have to grapple with hardships and severe difficulties in finding a place in local medical universities due to the constraints of space and inadequate facilities.
Their parents have high hopes of seeing their sons and daughters graduating as Doctors since the demand is comparatively high for them. The demand for higher education arises mainly because it's a clear - cut way for a person to move up the social ladder.
GMU has rich experience in medical education and there have been graduates for years with an average rate of 90% in acquiring the Medical Licence.
At GMU the hostel facilities are given in the campus complex itself. Each student has a shared room with an attached bathroom. The electricity is free for each room and the food is served at the university canteens, which serves high quality food at a nominal price. The average annual expense for food per person is about Rs. 100,000. Accommodation also is provided at high standard and at an affordable price of US$ 1000 per year.
Almost all sports and recreation facilities are available in the sports complex including a swimming pool and 400m leather track. The students who are at GMU are a well satisfied and happy batch, mainly due to the standard of GMU education and the other facilities available. The medical programme is for 5 years and the one year internship training is arranged in affiliated hospitals. These hospitals are fully equipped to give the best clinical practices for students. Currently the passed-out Sri Lankan students from GMU are practising as doctors in Sri Lankan government hospitals.
The GMU offers scholarships for distinguished international students according to student performances. Presently there are few Sri Lankan students who have obtained these scholarships.
Global Education Center (GEC) considered to be one of Sri Lanka's premier mentor and consultant for students seeking higher education in many ivy league student destinations as China, Russia and Philippines, is one institution that is complimented with a track record of 5 years and hundreds of contented students in its portfolio.
The applications process is now on for the next intake. The GEC offers all the facilities to the Sri Lankan students to enrol into this university.
