Our first destination was Sigiriya, which was built by King Kasyapa. There were hundreds of steps to climb but I didn’t feel tired. We saw the apsara paintings and the ruins of the palace. That night we stayed in a tree house in the middle of the jungle which was a new experience for us.
The next day we went to Minneriya National Park. It was a huge forest, but we had the chance to see the sloth bear, leopard, jungle fowl, wild
                              elephants, deer and some birds.
The next day we went to Polonnaruwa. We saw an
                              archaeological museum, the
statue of a sage, Potgul Viharaya, Parakramabahu 1’s royal palace,
Vatadage, Hatadage, Atadage, Nisankalatha Mandapaya, Thuparama stone book, lotus bath and Rankoth Viharaya.
After that we went to Kanniya hot water wells in Trincomalee. There were seven wells and the water was really hot.
The next day we went to Konneswaram temple and Pigeon Island. It was a beautiful island near the beach. We saw many pigeons.
Then we had a good time on the Nilaweli beach. I was not afraid to swim with the waves as my uncle was by my side. It was an unforgettable holiday.

We celebrated the New Year on April 14th. My mother lighted the hearth at the auspicious time.
She arranged the table, putting a white cloth and kept sweets on it.
They were kokis, asmi, aluwa, milk rice, konda kavum etc. We all had our meal at the same time. After that we did transactions and worshipped our parents. We visited our relatives.
On the following day we organized a New Year celebration at our home. I invited my cousins and relatives. There were many games such as
Tug-of-War, pillow fighting, shooting to the target, keeping an eye to the elephant etc. I won four of them.
I was the chief organizer of the event. Finally I gave away the presents and thanked everyone for coming.
