Neo@Ogilvy launched in Sri Lanka

Phoenix Ogilvy, Sri Lanka’s premier advertising agency with Media, PR and Activation arms this week launched its newest service offering NEO@Ogilvy, which it says is the only fully fledged digital and social media agency in Sri Lanka.

Neo@Ogilvy provides a full range of digital and social media services, including media strategy, planning and buying, search marketing, performance marketing, analytics and technology, mobile marketing, digital out-of-home marketing and other services and will operate in association with Ogilvy Media, the company announced.

Speaking on the launch of Neo@Ogilvy, Irvin Weerackody, Chairman-Phoenix Ogilvy said, “Some tend to believe that Internet penetration in Sri Lanka is rather low when compared to our Asian neighbours and therefore digital and social marketing is not deemed a priority right now. While we do not subscribe to this view totally, we certainly do not want to be mere spectators or onlookers while digital and social media brings about dramatic and sweeping social changes right across the world. ”

Mr Weerackody, referring to the setting up of the digital and social media practice, said the company began the process by exposing Lalith Sumanasiri, Joint Managing Director of Ogilvy Media and one of its top media strategists, to the best brains in digital and social media in the world. “His extensive training at Ogilvy head office in New York culminated in the setting up of the only fully fledged digital and social media arm in Sri Lanka,” the Phoenix Ogilvy chief said.

The statement said with the launch of Neo@Ogilvy, world-class digital expertise will now be available to marketers of the country. Sri Lanka at the moment is in the brink of a media revolution, with increase in bandwidth and speeds in broadband and ADSL connections, low costs in connectivity and appliances and increasing mobile penetration. Neo@Ogilvy will offer an opportunity for local marketers to enter the digital space and connect with customers in a more interactive, intimate and effective manner.
