It was a triumph for outstation talent as a young beauty from Polonnaruwa Pushpika De Silva was crowned the winner of Miss Sri Lanka 2011 for Miss World 2011 title in the “Miss Derana Veet Sri Lanka” beauty pageant at the Galadari Hotel, Grand Ballroom. She will represent Sri Lanka in the forthcoming Miss World 2011 pageant to be held in London.

The first runner-up Shimalka Bodaragama from Dehiwela who was also the winner of eight coveted mini pageant titles, while Chamupa Godage of Kandy was adjudged the second runner up.
Pushpika walked away with several mini pageant titles, including Veet Top Model and best National Costume. “The event provided a great opportunity for these contestants to cultivate their career goals, and experience gain other invaluable exposure that would leave a lasting impression on their lives,” said the Assistant Brand Manager of Veet, Chrishankar Janathanan of Reckitt Benckiser.
He added, “They also serve as spokespersons representing the cream of young Sri Lankan women with the possibility of becoming ambassadors of our country, working with various organizations devoted to worthy causes.” |
