Funday Times Club Members celebrated World Environment Day at Nuga Gama, the village in the city at Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo, on June 4, 2011.
A group of 40 members enjoyed the programme organized for them by the PR Team of Cinnamon Grand, led by Aunty Tharika.
After the customary tour of
Nuga Gama by Uncle Gamini,
the village headman, the kids
participated in an interactive
session on Environment
conducted by Aunty Tharika and Uncle Shanil, including eco tips on how they could help to save the Earth.
An exciting game ‘Jungle Hunt’ followed, for which they were divided into four groups. They ran around Nuga Gama, searching for animal prints, and identifying them.
The next session was on
recycling, where they were shown how to make attractive
envelopes using discarded
magazine pages using a stencil. Then Uncle Weeraman displayed bird houses made with empty cartons of cornflakes, cheese etc.
Finally the kids were shown
colourful bags made by recycling old banners. Each member was presented a bag by the General Manager, Rohan Karr.
All sat down to a sumptuous snack of traditional food and fresh fruit juice made by Uncle Ronnie and the aunties in the kussiya. The kids crowded round the Ice-cream Maama for his ice-creams.
Finally the winning Team Brave were presented with yummy
chocolates from Cinnamon Grand. |
