Graphic design is about communication in its purest form. Through the creative presentation of images, facts and ideas, graphic design tells a story, delivers a message and makes an impact. Northumbria University School of Design Graphic Design programme is a degree course formulated to create a student experience where notions of design practice are implicit yet existing boundaries and conventions of design are constantly challenged. NU School of Design Graphic Design programme can now be fully completed in Sri Lanka's Academy of Design.
At the Academy of Design (AOD), NU School of Design curricula and similar learning experiences are implemented to create graphic designers of international standards. An underpinning of theoretical, historical, cultural and professional contexts is given throughout the course via lectures, industry visits, live projects entry to international competitions and visiting lecturers and staffing lecturers of significant industry and global experience. AOD's international faculty headed by Canadian Graphic Designer Alain Parizeau, guides students through the 3 year programme that combines creativity with commercialism, tradition with technology and information with imagination. The programme touches on typography, promotional graphics, illustration, applied photography, packaging, digital media, corporate identity, printmaking, communication in design and more.
AOD's aim is to give South-Asian students tools and support needed to be a world-class designer of illustrator. With their association with NU School of Design in the UK, the AOD is now the easiest and the most economical way to receive a globally recognized Graphic Design degree.
