Trained professionals in Travel and Tourism are available in large numbers.
The new Travel and Tourism workshops to be conducted in Colombo, Kandy and Matale, Jaffna and Trincomalee, are rapid access routes to employment in Sri Lanka and abroad.
Recognition and Assistance
This programme is coordinated by the Regional Economic Development Agency - REDA, under the auspices of the Central provincial Council, It is also supported in Colombo by Aquinas College and Job Link and internationally, by the London Chamber of commerce and Industry International Qualifications - LCCIIQ and IAB International Academy @ Bintan.
5 Days Intensive Training
Students following this programme are provided intensive training for 5 days in Travel and Tourism, English for Tourism and Marketing.
Job Placements
After completing the intensive training students are then provided placements in jobs at airline offices, hotels, travel agent offices,tour guiding firms and with tour operators.
Practical Training Service Record
As in the case of Accountants, trainees will be provided a Practical Training Service Record Book that will require employers to certify that the apprentice has acquired given competencies. This will be further evaluated by the institute.
After completing a 3 month period of training, students will be provided paid employment in the business where they were trained or in positions elsewhere.
International Qualifications
Students wishing to obtain internationally recognized qualifications may do it locally by sitting the Diploma in Travel and Tourism awarded by the London Chamber of commerce and Industry International Qualifications (LCCIIQ) or they can proceed to Singapore for a one Year Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality.
The IAB Diploma
The Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality offered by IAB - International Education @ Bintan, comprises, principles of Management, Introduction to Tourism, Principles of Accounts and Information Technology, Soft Skills and Tourism Sales.
Jobs in Singapore
On completing the IAB Diploma students may qualify for employment in Singapore in establishments listed as in corporate partnership with IAB.
An Exciting Opportunity
Students may register for the Diploma at IAB by paying USD 500/- and then settle fees after obtaining their Visa.
