A court in the Netherlands has convicted five Dutch citizens of Sri Lankan origin for helping in the fundraising campaign of the LTTE, a banned terrorist organisation in that country.
Those sentenced are Selliaha (six years), Ramalingam (five years), Elavarsan (three years), Jesuratnam (one and half years) and Thambi Ayiah (two years).
Prosecutors had accused the five men of raising funds for the LTTE by threatening and blackmailing the Sri Lankan Tamil Diaspora. |
