Sri Lankas prime and most looked forward to Sing-along festival of golden oldies hosted by the Moratuwa Arts Forum ‘Down Memory Lane’ will come alive on Sunday 27th November at Lake Nest Resort, Gorakana, Moratuwa commencing at 6.30 p.m.
This year too DML will comprise of evergreen songs and ballads of yesteryear such as American Cowboy, Plantation and Dixieland hits English, Irish and Scottish old favourites, International songs, along with a host of local Sinhala hits. “In order to please the somewhat younger participants, we have also included a few songs from the 80s and 90s era as well” explained the Project Chairman Priya Peiris of La Bambas fame – the brainchild behind this sing-along concept.
The rest of the committee comprises of President Lincoln De Silva (of Super Pink & Purple), past Presidents Chanaka and Lankika Perera (of Golden Chimes), vice president Hiran Fernando, Treasurer Ivan De Silva, Brian Coorey Delvin Pereira and Suranga Fernando. This year’s concert has been shifted to the newest star class hotel in Moratuwa – Lake Nest Resort, which offers you classy facilities such as a spacious and comfortable air-conditioned banquet hall complete with exquisite lighting situated on the ground floor, ample parking space and salubrious airy surroundings by the Bolgoda Lake.
Super Pink & Purple led by MAF President Lincoln De Silva will as usual provide the musical backing for the sing-along while the galaxy of singing stars of MAF will give the lead to community singing. This 2 ½ hour concert will feature old hits such as ‘Old folks at home’ , ‘Home of the range’ , ‘Love letters in the sand’ , ‘South of the border’ , ‘I love you because’ and many more. An attractive songbook comprising lyrics of around 100 songs will be given to every ticket holder at the gate.
As value addition to the participants there will be a raffle draw with many lavish gifts given away. Also included this year are prizes for the best singing couple and best dressed vintage couple. Food and beverage stalls will be aplenty at the show.
