One of the problems that Sri Lankan television faces today, a lack of programmes for the viewers who like quality English programmes is solved with the re-launch of Max Television with a spectacular line up of both entertaining and educative programmes.
With the re-launch in September, Max has transited from Sinhala to English due to the demand for English language programmes as there is lack of quality, current and first run television programmes on local television.
“The channel is positioned as a much localized English language channel with the intention of growing the viewership of the channel, more specifically drawing viewership from the fast growing and emerging urban local language viewers with a life style preference for quality English language programming,” said the CEO of Max television, Stefan Beekmeyer.
Max television now telecast 24 hours a day with the globally popular Aljazeera News Network along with the very latest Hollywood movies slotted in daily at 9 pm. Bringing viewers the very latest developments and gossip from Hollywood is the popular E News Monday to Friday at 8 pm. And over the week end at 8 pm, are two of the very latest drama series, Brothers and Sisters on Saturdays and No Ordinary Family on Sundays. Just for Laughs daily at 7.30 pm, gives viewers the much need dose of laughter after a hard day’s work playing silly pranks on unsuspecting subjects while hidden cameras capture the peoples response.
Daily at 6.30 pm Max Television introduces a one hour live request and dedication show where each programme deals with a different genre of music across the week, delighting callers with their request and dedications the presenters ensure pleasant interaction. The CEO went on to say when it came to kids programmes the channel needed to create a clear distinction and differentiation from the competition by deviating away from the run of the mill cartoon seen across all channels and instead opted to delight kids with a live request and dedication programme Monday to Friday at 4.30 pm.
The uniqueness of this programme is that the music played is music from animated feature films like Sherik or Toy story. Another unique programme for kids which falls over the weekend at 4.30 pm. is Kids in Harmony, a programme that feature well rehearsed and choreographed kids performing interesting dance and song acts.
The News Paper headlines are presented live daily at 6.30 pm on the programme, what’s in Print? For the benefit of housewives that may miss out on prime time programming the prime time lineup is repeated the following day in the afternoons.
