Oracle to offer software free to JKCs

Students will gain a competitive advantage, says IEG CEO - Oracle Corporation and the Institute of Electronic Governance (IEG) signed an agreement that would help the latter get Oracle software and Middleware free of cost for usage in the 265 Jawahar Knowledge Centres (JKCs) in engineering colleges across the State.

The MoU was exchanged between Krishna Sistla, Director, Oracle Asia Pacific, and Amarnath Reddy Atmakuri, CEO of IEG, at the Oracle office. Mr. Reddy said, “By introducing the Oracle Academy programme into academia, we are confident that our students will gain a competitive advantage as they prepare to enter the global workforce. One of IEGs main charters is to improve the quality of students graduating from institutes and colleges in the State to make them industry-ready and immediately employable.”

Thanking IT Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah for the initiative, Mr. Reddy said about 53,000 students will benefit from the MoU and they can access software like Oracle database 11g enterprise, Oracle Application server, Oracle Developer suite, Oracle Java products, while JKC faculty will be trained on Programming with SQL and Programming with PL/SQL and the hosted applications for Cloud Environment/Cloud Computing.
