Roger Bannister set 4 minute mile record in 1954 which was groundbreaking and phenomenal at the time - but today, kids in high school run the 4 minute- mile.“Swiss watches”, which dominated 65% of the global watch market, were the best in the world in 1960s. Now they claim less than 10% of the market while the new Japanese entrants control 35% of the market. Swiss watches kept improving but were not innovative enough.
There are many companies who were leading the game once but had lost their way because they failed to react and respond to changes in the market and consumer expectations.
Whether you run your own business or work for a company as a CEO, Director, or just an employee - you have to anticipate future challenges and raise your standards to win and survive in the fiercely competitive global and local marketplaces.

A literal example of this is in the success story of the American National Basketball Team. Their success is not due to having the tallest and the most powerful players in the team – but in the training to pass the ball to where players will be moving next and not where they are at the moment. They win because they “Anticipate and take actions”
If you are not happy with the outcomes of your life, born out of your habits, believes and attitudes from the past, it is time to evolve!
Adapt a new belief
system
You are controlled by your believes. First, find out the limiting believes that can prevent you from achieving big. Some of them may be:
- I am not lucky - Luck is an invention people made in order to find something to blame when they fail to reach what they want because of not trying hard enough or not trying at all.
- I am a loser – losing does not make you a loser. This is simply a self-blaming mechanism.
- There is no hope - After trying for one or two times and failing many people form a limiting belief that prevents them from trying once again.
Every time you fall into a false belief trap- correct yourself!
Ask questions that no one else has courage to ask
Ask critical questions about your company, about your own business or about yourself that no one else dare to ask. Am I just passing the days or actually trying to be innovative? Am I doing something to improve my standards to make myself prepared for tomorrow?
Become a student of infinite possibilities
Believe in your potential and become a student in the universe which has infinite possibilities to offer. Be open for new learning. Hulda Crooks made her first climb at age 66. At the age of 91, she became the oldest woman to complete the ascent of Mount Fuji in Japan.
Remember, it is never too late to start or never too late to change. |
