The Nondescripts School of Cricket will be upgraded and transformed as the Nondescripts Cricket Academy (NCA) next year as a part of the Club’s long term vision of nurturing and developing young school cricketers.
The Nondescripts School of Cricket started in 1970 by Lionel Mendis will now function under the guidance of the Nondescripts Cricket Club and have the expertise of current and former NCC cricketers. Veteran Lionel Mendis, the founder of the Nondescripts School of Cricket will also be part of the Coaching Staff. Some of the club’s greats such as Aravinda de Silva, Rumesh Ratnayake, Kumar Sangakkara have agreed to serve voluntarily on the Advisory Panel of the Academy.
NCC strongly believes that an Academy is only as good as the coaches that conducts it and will pay special emphasis towards getting the best. It also strongly supports the policy of having a system of accreditation that Sri Lanka cricket has put in place and will look to adhere to all the requirements.
The best possible facilities required for an outdoor facility will be put in place at the picturesque NCC Cricket grounds which is considered to be one of the best Cricket grounds in the country.
The club has produced some of the greatest cricketers in Sri Lanka and the world and will look to develop all round thinking cricketers, which is the way to reach the top.
The NONDESCRIPTS CRICKET ACADEMY will get underway on January 1, 2012 and the students of the present NCC School of Cricket will be absorbed in to it.
As the club intends providing facilities for a larger number, some vacancies are available. New students interested in seeking admission to the Cricket Academy could obtain details from the Club’s Manager at the office or call 2695293. |
