Bad light brought an early end to a titanic struggle between bat and ball in the Trinity-Dharmaraja match at Asgiriya Stadium.
It was a tight, tense encounter in which no quarter was asked or given. The scores reflect this. In reply to the Rajan total of 113, Trinity just got over the line making 114 for 9. Skipper Niroshan Dikwella made 50 in his usual attacking style.
The knock of the day, however, was played by Rajan skipper Sadun Weerakkodi. His 72 came off 72 balls.He reveled in the sweep and also timed his lofted shots superbly.
Trinity’s target was 148 in 26 overs, but the wind was taken out of their sails with the fall of Dikwella.

What would have been a close and interesting finish was not to be as rain had the last word at the Police Grounds in Kandy. Kingswood and President’s College Kotte had tied on the first innings and the visitors had been shot out once more for a paltry score.
The target for Kingswood was only 88 in 26 overs, but at 8 for one, rain put paid to their chances.
Dinush Maduwatte and Menaka Lankatilleke had match bags of five and seven wickets respectively for Kingswood.
President College’s Tharindu Gamage made the top score in the match – a mere 27.

St. Sylvester’s win
The Sylvestrians scored an emphatic innings and 17 runs win over St. Mary’s Kegalle at Peradeniya.
Left arm spinner Nimesha Mendis had an excellent game picking up ten wickets for 38 (7 for 20 and 3 for 18). Medium pacie Waruna Wijesinghe also had a good time snapping up 6 for 24 in the second innings.
Faiz Ahamed (90) smashed the St. Mary’s attack, hitting 6 sixes and 7 fours in his 35 ball knock. Skipper Ruwantha Ekanayake also came good making a pleasing 47.
M. Kumara top scored with 42 in the Marian second innings.

Off spinner Supun Asela dominated proceedings in the Sri Rahula Katugastota – ChristChurch Matale tournament match at the Prison Grounds in Pallekelle.
Asela had fine figures 11-4-19-4 in the first innings and 5 for 39 in the second.
Sixteen-year-old Dhanushka Ranasinghe making his debut, made the highest score in the match with a patient innings of 59. Skipper Rajitha Ranatunga, Roshan Subasinghe and Ishara Tennekoon also batted well.
Opening bat S.M. Samarakoon (50), and skipper Malinga (41) performed best for the visitors.
Set a victory target of 71 in six overs, Sri Rahula made a valiant effort but fell short by 12 runs.
