Entries keep pouring in for popular cricketers

The Bata-the Sunday Times Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year 2012

The most exciting and much looked forward to competition among schoolboy cricketers of Sri Lanka - the Bata-the Sunday Times Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year competition – kicked off on January 1 with coupons being published in the daily and weekly publications of Wijeya Newspapers.

As Royal all-rounder Bhanuka Rajapaksa clinched the most coveted prize many would have dreamt and hoped to win the Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year 2012 award. In the competition for the Most Popular category, readers could send in many coupons as they like. We have already received a huge number of coupons sent in favour of several talented cricketers from the All Island and the Emerging Schools sections. However the results of the first week’s vote count will be published next Sunday (January 15) and will continue to appear on a weekly basis.

Those who are interested in voting for their schoolboy cricket stars could cast their votes to any of the above in the All Island category and any other schoolboy cricketers in the Emerging category. However those cricketers who represent the International Schools will have to be voted in that particular category. This year the organizers have also increased the prize money that goes to the readers who send in their votes. Now the Prize money will be Lkr.1,500/-, 1,250/-, 1,000/-, 750/-. The All Island and Emerging coupons will continue to appear until May 23.

Senanayake, Isipathana, Lumbini, St. Benedict’s, St. Joseph’s, St. Peter’s, Thurstan, Zahira, Mahanama, S.
