Electricity consumers heaved a sigh of relief this week when they found the fuel adjustment charge which was to come into effect from February 16 had not been added to their February bill.CEB officials said there was a delay in sending official instructions to the regional offices as to how the calculation should be done and therefore a decision was taken not to add the fuel adjustment charge to the February bill.
The Sunday Times learns that instructions are yet to be printed but will be made available to the regional offices in the coming weeks.
The government last month announced a maximum of 40 percent fuel adjustment charge on households consuming more than 60 units of electricity. Those who consume between upto 30 units a month are to be charged a 25% fuel surcharge while those who consume between 30 and 60 are to be charged a 35% fuel surcharge. |
