Oscar awarded Martin Scorsese’s ‘Hugo’ based on Brian Selznick’s novel ‘The Invention of Hugo Cabret’, a story about a boy who lives alone in a Paris railway station and the enigmatic owner of a toy shop there, is now being screened at Liberty Lite, Kollupitiya.
The movie bagged five awards for the Best Art Direction, Sound Mixing, Sound Editing, Visual Effects and Cinematography at the 84th Academy Awards. Hugo also won two BAFTAs and was nominated for three Golden Globe Awards, earning Scorsese his third Golden Globe Award for Best Director
It is a co-production of Graham King’s GK Films and Johnny Depp’s Infinitum Nihil. The film stars Asa Butterfield, Chloë Grace Moretz, Ben Kingsley, Sacha Baron Cohen, Ray Winstone, Emily Mortimer, Jude Law and Christopher Lee.
Twelve-year-old Hugo lives in the walls of a busy Paris train station, where his survival depends on secrets and anonymity. But when his world suddenly interlocks with an eccentric girl and the owner of a small toy booth in the train station, Hugo’s undercover life, and his most precious secret, are put in jeopardy.
