Defending champions Colombo Football Club qualified for the semi-finals of the Colombo Football League ‘Centenary Year’ Silver Cup Football tournament when Henamulla FC walked off in protest. This happened when centre forward A. Shazny booted his second goal to make the score 4-0 in favour of the defending champions in their quarter final at Campbell Park recently.
Within the first 10 minutes of play, A. Shazny, Z. Osman and M. Rifas fired a goal each to give CFC a 3-0 lead. Ten minutes later Shazny scored his second goal which was disputed by Henamulla FC and they walked off in protest. With this the match was awarded to Colombo FC.
Henamulla FC who have a bad reputation for disputing referees decisions and walking off have been suspended by the Colombo Football League and will not be permitted to play in any tournaments conducted by them until the disciplinary committee of the CFL decides what further action should be taken against them.
Colombo Football Club are scheduled to meet the winners of the Old Royalists versus Soccer Fans fixture. |
