Ampara is one of the ancient cities in the Eastern Province with much historic importance. But when it comes to tourism, Ampara is given a cold shoulder. With many tourists’ attractions and beautiful locations, Ampara stands out in the Eastern part of Sri Lanka.

With all this importance, ‘Ampara’ is still dragging its leg, when it comes to accommodations.
Out of few hotels and guests houses, Monty Hotel stands tall in Ampara. The newest luxury Monty Hotel is located in the city limits and is only 225 km drive from capital city of Colombo.

‘Monty’ started its business way back in 1985 as a small five room guest’s house. But present it has grown into a big operation with 50 luxury rooms to its credit. ‘It was my father who worked at the Gal Oya Development Project, who started it to give an accommodation to its officials. But slowly we managed to build this venture. Today it is the best hotel in this part of the country’ said Julian Prince Karunaratne, the proprietor of the hotel.

The guests will experience the most picturesque drives in Sri Lanka with historical places of interest on their way to Monty Hotel from the Capital city. From the warm greetings and traditional drink presented on arrival, Monty Hotel offers an exclusive hospitality experience of a life time.

‘Our courteous, experienced and qualified staff will extend their assistance and pamper you from the time you arrive, till your departure. It is unique in this area, not like city hotels. Hospitality is something that is a part of our life here’ he added
