Shaggy and Shakin’ Stevens to follow Olivia Newton John

Colombo seems getting more vibrant and excited with many happenings and internationally acclaimed singers billed to perform in the coming months. Billy Ocean was the first hit for the year 2011 followed by Olivia Newton John of Saturday Night Fever and Grease fame on 4th and 5th of April, and now Shaggy will come alive in Colombo on 28th April.

Orville Richard Burrell, popularly known as Shaggy was in Sri Lanka in January 2001, when he was at the top of his singing career. He will be in action at the CH and FC Grounds on 28 April. One time popular rock n’ roll singing sensation Shakin’ Stevens will be in action in Colombo towards the end of the year as part of his world tour to celebrate 30 years in showbiz.

Olivia Newton John (ONJ) will come alive in Colombo on the 4th and 5th of April at the Musaeus Auditorium. The concert in Colombo presented by Wizard Entertainment, is part of ONJ’s Asia 2012 Tour which includes Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Hong Kong and Indonesia.

ONJ will be in action in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 27 March and in Manila on 31 March. She will perform in Honk Kong on April 1 before coming for Colombo Concerts. Her next performances after Colombo will be Jakarta in Indonesia on 8 April and followed by 19th in London and 27th April in New York.

Four time Grammy winner, ONJ who has sold more than one hundred million albums worldwide, came into the spotlight in the 1970s and continued her meteoric rise to fame and stardom with her leading role in the musical ‘Grease’ and ‘Saturday Night Fever’ starring opposite John Travolta.

Her enduring music and stage personality was further enhanced when she made a guest appearance in the famed tele-music series Glee, singing ‘Let’s Get Physical’ with the popular cast. A breast cancer survivor, ONJ’s hits include ‘If Not For You’, ‘Country Girl’, ‘Banks Of The Ohio’, ‘Let Me Be There’, ‘I Honestly Love You’, ‘Have You Never Been Mellow’, ‘Please Mr Please’, ‘Something Better To Do’, ‘Let It Shine/ He Ain’t Heavy He’s My Brother’, ‘Come On Over,’ ‘Don’t Stop Believin’, ‘You’re the one that I Want’, ‘Hopelessly Devoted To You’, ‘Summer Nights’, ‘A Little More Love’, ‘Xanadu, Suddenly’, ‘Magic’ and ‘Physical’.

Olivia Newton-John will perform at one of the country’s largest indoor theaters, the Musaeus Auditorium which houses 1,650 and has gained an enviable reputation as a contemporary concert and entertainment venue. Sunday Times, Daily Mirror and Daily FT are the print media partners of the concert, while Real Radio is the official radio sponsor.
