The Southern Motor Sports Club-- the pioneer motor sports club in Matara will celebrate its 15th anniversary today.
A challenging 80 km TSD type Motor Rally for members followed with the anniversary dinner at Pearl Cliff Hotel situated at Browns Hill Matara will highlight the event.
The Southern Motor Sports Club was founded in 1997 by Suranjith Premadasa, Ashaar Hameem, Andrew de Silva and the Late Preethi Palliyaguru to promote Motor Sports in the Southern Province.
The Southern Monsoon Rally and the Eliyakanda Hill Climb are two annual events which draws the top riders and drivers in the island. Beach Horse Racing, The Safari Rally in Kantale and The Rathnapura Speed 2000 Road Race which attracted over 300,000 spectators are other events organized by the club. |
