We are proud to announce that Sri Lanka has been selected as the venue for the Regional Presidents’ Meeting for Project Management Institute of Western Asia Pacific region for the second consecutive year. Presidents and Leaders of Western Asian countries and Project Management representatives from all Chapters will attend this meeting for the purpose of planning and sharing experiences among regional peers. Additionally, regional experts will engage in regional strategic planning for their respective Chapters for 2012/2103.
Sri Lanka was chosen as the location for the conference this year as well, because the country is very focused on the area of project management as a result of the growing demand for project management professionals in all industry sectors.
This year’s theme will be ‘Strategize with Regional Knowledge Sharing with Peers’. .
The main objective of the meeting is to have a great knowledge sharing session with all regional leaders sharing their first hand experiences on the subject of project management. we believe that this meeting would be an eye opener for the future events organized by PMI Sri Lanka.
The Regional Presidents’ meeting will be followed by the “Project Management Institute Colombo Sri Lanka’s Second Regional Conference” which will be held from 27th - 29th of April 2012,at the Cinnamon Lakeside.
With the theme that speaks for itself –“Accelerate National Development with Best Practices of Project Management” –the conference aims to bring out thought leadership on project management best practices and industry trends. Regional experts, presidents, mentors, PMI directors and officers from respective industries as well as government officials have been invited to participate in this event.
The Regional Mentor, Mr. Tejas Sura, during his last year visit in June to the Presidents’ meeting held at Hotel Dolphin Waikkal stated that “The arrangements, hospitality, serenity and the beauty of the country is appealing and exclusive.”
This was an exciting experience for all local and foreign delegates “Not to forget the people from PMI Colombo team, those who warmly welcome all participants and their family members but also to appreciate the support given by the PMI staff.” Thus the participants have recognized Sri Lanka as a potential destination to cater for any international event without any hesitation.
The members of PMI agreed to conduct the meeting in Sri Lanka for the second year running without considering other options such as Dubai, Bangkok or even Kathmandu – Nepal, because of easy access to Colombo from neighboring countries as well as a host of other factors that make the city a preferred destination.
PMI Experts are willing to assist Sri Lanka in some of these professional development areas through PMI Sri Lanka.
