SriLankan flies direct daily to Kuwait from May

SriLankan Airlines will commence direct daily flights to Kuwait from next month thereby doing away with its previous Colombo-Dubai-Kuwait route. The carrier’s Chief Marketing Officer G.T. Jayaseelan told the Business Times it would be increasing flights to Kuwait due to increased demand. Dubai flights will continue separately.

He noted that while Dubai and Kuwait recorded a high cabin factor and further it also looked to develop tourism from these destinations. In addition, the airline was also observing a trend for a number of passengers using the carrier for travel to the Far East.

In this regard, SriLankan Airlines believes there is a need to cater to the increasing capacity as a result of which they would commence the direct daily flights to Kuwait. This was part of the five year plan of the airline whose financial year ending March is also expected to release the results after June this year. The regular route will depart from Kuwait at 21:55 daily and arrive in Colombo at 6:15a.m.The national carrier will be operating a total of 47 weekly flights into the Middle East effective next month. Since 1982, Kuwait continues to occupy a top slot as some of the key points in their portfolio are destinations in the Middle East.

Passengers will henceforth be able to enjoy the speed of non-stop flights coupled with the luxury and comfort of wide-bodied A 330 and A 340 aircraft as they travel to Colombo and beyond. SriLankan Airlines currently operates to 60 destinations in 33 countries across the globe from Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East and South Asia to Southeast Asia, the Far East, Australia, North America and Canada.
