Nine respond to Trinco RFPs

Some nine parties have responded to Trincomalee Port City development project Request for Proposals (RFP) for which the closing date was extended by a month to May 10, according to officials.

Susantha Abeysiriwardena, Project Director / Chief Engineer Planning and Development of this project told the Business Times that three parties applied for cement bagging plants, two for ship repairs, two for petrochemical plants, one for Bitumen manufacuring and another for fish farming and food processing.

He said that investors are allowed to subdivide or amalgamate the land according to their preferences, etc. “DIMO, Madras Cement, Marine Cement Ltd, McLarence Holdings, Puma Energy LLC, ABG Cement Ltd, Ocean Pix and John Keells partnering Fortec Singapore, MER Afloat and Colombo Dockyard PLC are the nine bidders," a source told the Business Times.

The industrial park which consists of 3,000 acres of land will have investment opportunities in various potential sectors. Each investor will be allocated five acres of land at the industrial park.
