The latest session of ‘Creative Activities for Children’ a programme conducted by veteran actress, playwright and children’s drama expert Somalatha Subasinghe at Play House-Kotte will kick off this June.
With the aim of developing child’s mental and physical aspects and to enhance artistic taste, cheerfulness and playful sense of the child through aesthetic experiences, children from ages four to fourteen are invited join the programme.
Conducted by award winning actress and playwright Kaushalya Fernando together with Dr. Chandana Aluthge and Mayura Perera under the guidance of Somalatha Subasinghe, the programme gives the child the opportunity to learn the basics of enjoying and appreciating music, free movement, dance and rhythmic movement, acting and language, singing, puppetry and handwork.
The classes will be held on Saturdays from 9.30 am. to 1.30 pm. at Janakala Kendraya situated near Parliament. The veteran playwright Somalatha Subasinghe founded Lanka Children’s and Youth Theatre Foundation in 1981which is also well known as Kotte Play House to promote theatre productions and performances specifically for children and youth.
