Slave Island, Maligawatte PV into semi finals

Slave Island and Maligawatte Princess Veterans entered the semi final round of the 4th All Island (over 40) 11 a side tournament organized by the Sri Lanka Soccer Masters Association. Both games were played recently at Campbell Park, Borella.

In the first quarter final, Slave Island beat Old Bens by two goals to nil, while Maligawatte Princes Veterans posted a 2-1 win over Old Ratnam. Today (Sunday, May 27) Eleven Stars, Negombo will play Kandy.

A total of 24 teams from Colombo, Battaramulla, Negombo, Mawanella, Kegalle, Ratnapura, Nawalapitiya, Badulla, Kandy and Amparai have entered the tournament.

The winners will receive a cash award of Rs. 50,000/- and a challenge trophy, while the runner – up team will also receive a cash prize of Rs. 25,000/- and a challenge trophy. Furthermore, the best player and goal keeper will receive a cash award of Rs. 7,500/ each which will be chosen from the semi finals and final. (BM)
