A teleplay on a rare theme. Dumping of garbage, an issue that has become a social problem and created many a quarrel among friendly neighbourhoods takes the centre place of “Mehi Kunu Demima Thahanam” (Dumping Garbage here is prohibited), a hilarious teleplay directed by Chandana Hewapathirana. The teledrama narrates how each and everyone of us contributess to this problem yet points a finger only at the authorities and government institutions.
Telecast every Thursday at 8.30 pm on Rupavahini, the teleplay has turned out to be a real entertainment for the TV audience.
The forty-episode teledrama played by Sarath Kotalawela, Hemantha Iriyagama, Jayani Senanayake, Dilini Lakmali, Bhagya Gurusinghe, Madhani Malwatte, Dharmapriya Dias, Ashen Manjula and Nirosha Thalaga is produced by Piymal Abeysiri, Y. P. J. Abeywardena and Chandana himself.
Camera handled by Sanjeewa Kumara, art directed by Sumathi Kudaligama, make-up by Priyantha Ishawara, the teledrama is assisted in direction by Chandana Hewawasam.
Director Chandana ventured to miniscreen with ‘Hiri Bata Ahasa’ and went on to make eight directions which were completely different from each other in story, theme and settings. “Th e theme for teledrama has to be fresh and timely and has to be presented in a lighter vein,” said director Chandana Hewapathirana. Chandana believes that many serious issues can be discussed meaningfully when it is presented in a satirical or comical manner. |
