Rajapaksa port starts operations

The Magampura Ruhuna Mahinda Rajapaksa port in Hambantota commenced operations with the first vessel arriving on June 6. The MV FRISIA carried 15 cars with the vessel leaving the port within a few hours of the same day after the vehicles were driven out of the ship. This was followed by MV ASIAN SUN carrying nearly 1000 vehicles which is to be trans-shipped to Algeria, officials said.
