Ceylon Tea on offer continued to slide with this week’s auction recording 5.69 million kg of tea with 2 million kg being Low Grown Main Grades and 2.22 million kg were High and Mid Grown Main Grades.
The Low Growns met with fair demand. In the Leafy grade catalogues stylish liquoring OP1s were firm to dearer, whilst below best and others held firm. Well-made stylish OP/OPAs were sold at last week’s levels, whilst poorer varieties gained in value.
Most FBOPFs were sold at last week’s levels and met with good demand. BOPs met with less demand and sold at last week’s levels. BOPFs were firm. In the Premium Flowery catalogues long leaf and small leaf tippy teas met with good demand.
Improved demand prevailed at the Ex-Estate auction this week. Selected Western BOPs gained Rs.100 and more and their BOPFs were Rs.20 to Rs.30 dearer. Below best and other BOPs gained Rs.50 to Rs. 100 with below best BOPFs gaining substantially. (SD)
