Chairman of Regency Higher Education Centre Sujeewa Lekamge honoured at National Entrepreneur Excellence Presidential Awards 2024

Sujeewa Sampath Lekamge of the Regency Higher Education Centre and Boarding School Private Limited was awarded the “Asian National Entrepreneur Excellence Award” at the National Entrepreneur Excellence Presidential Awards 2024, organised by the Sri Lanka Young Entrepreneurs Association under the guidance of Presidential Secretariat's Special Projects Unit. Mr. Sujeewa Sampath Lekamge was recognised for his outstanding contribution to the education sector and commitment to social welfare. Regency Higher Education Centre and Boarding School, with branches in Kandy and Kurunegala, provides a nurturing environment for students from Grade 1 to 13. Their unique education system allows students to focus intensively on their studies, with a structured timetable that runs from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. The School emphasises the importance of extracurricular activities, and students are facilitated to engage in such activities, all under the careful supervision.

The School, which offers teaching in both Sinhala and English, has attracted students from leading schools, drawn by the promise of accelerated learning and a holistic education experience. Their innovative teaching approach enables students who completed their General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level to complete their Advanced Level (A/L) education in just one year, instead of the typical three years. The A/L students can choose from Science, Mathematics, Arts, Commerce, and Technology streams. At a time when Sri Lanka is focused on educational reforms, Regency Higher Education Centre and Boarding School stands out as a model of what education can be. There, students are free to learn without the constraints typically associated with traditional schooling such as uniforms. The School was awarded as the Pioneer of the Education Reforms in Sri Lanka at the Business Icon Awards 2023 organised by the Global Consortium of Science and Technology.
