‘Chutneys’ come to stay at Cinnamon Citadel Kandy

Popular ‘Chutneys’ Restaurant at Cinnamon Grand, long recognised in Colombo for its premium Indian cuisine, reopened recently at Cinnamon Citadel Kandy. The move brings one of Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts’ signature dining experiences to the Hill Capital, catering to both residents and visiting travellers in search of authentic Indian flavours.

Originally established at Cinnamon Grand Colombo, ‘Chutneys’ has long been recognised for its refined approach to Indian dining, offering a menu that blends tradition and taste with consistency and quality. The Kandy opening continues that legacy, featuring an à la carte dining that reflects the variety and vibrancy of Indian cuisine.

Guests enjoyed a preview of curated menu by Chef Ravindra Sing, showcasing a selection of North and South Indian dishes such as ‘Murgh Achari’ (Chicken cooked with pickling spices and mustard oil), ‘Dal Makhani’(Slow-cooked black lentils finished with butter and cream), ‘Rajasthan Laal Maas’(Spicy Rajasthani-style mutton curry), ‘Palak Paneer’(Paneer cubes in a creamy spinach and garlic sauce) and ‘Tandoori Chicken’. Traditional favourites including Hyderabadi Biryani, Masala Dosai and Tawa Sabzi were also featured, along with Vegetarian, Chicken and Mutton Thali meals served with classic accompaniments, offering a well-rounded taste of authentic Indian home-style dining.

Nestled along the banks of the Mahaweli River, Cinnamon Citadel Kandy is a four-star resort that blends modern comforts with the timeless character of the Hill Capital. The property features contemporary architecture inspired by traditional Kandyan motifs, surrounded by lush landscapes and river views.
