The Colombo Tea auction this week saw fair demand with 5.87 million kg on offer with 2.55 million kg of Low Grown Main Grades and 2.1 million kg of High and Mid Grown Main Grades.
In the Leafy and Semi Leafy catalogues select best varieties were barely steady, whilst improved below best varieties were fully firm to dearer. Teas at the lower end too gained. Select best OP/OPAs were generally firm, whilst improved below best varieties commenced firm, however gained towards the closer. Teas at the lower end were fully firm.
Select best Pekoe's declined, whilst corresponding Pekoe 1's maintained; below best Pekoe/Pekoe1's in general gained substantially. Teas at the lower end maintained. In the Small leaf catalogues select best FBOP/FBOPF1's were fully firm to dearer, whilst cleaner below best varieties maintained; poorer varieties gained substantially. In the Premium Flowery catalogues select best varieties were barely steady, whilst below best varieties maintained.
Fair demand prevailed at this week's Ex-Estate auction. Best Western BOPs were firm to slightly dearer but their BOPFs were barely steady. Coloury BOP/BOPFs were firm to selectively dearer; others and at the bottom were irregular. Hardly any Nuwara Eliya BOPFs were on offer, but BOPFs were dearer Rs.50 to Rs.100. Udapussellawa BOPs continued irregular but BOPFs gained Rs.50 to Rs.80 and at times more. Uva BOP/BOPF were barely steady. CTC BP1s were firm to slightly dearer. CTC PF1s too up to Rs.50 dearer for the selected. (SD)

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has interdicted Colombo Fort Magistrate Kosala Senadheera.
