Police have launched an investigation into the robbery of more than Rs. 1 million in mobile phones, cigarettes and cash from two shops in Ambalantota town.
The thieves had gained entry to the two shops - a mobile phone and accessories shop and a grocery, by breaking through the ceilings of the shops and climbing down with the aid of a rope. CCTV cameras in one of the shops have captured visuals of the robbers as they robbed the shop.
