This week’s Colombo tea auction offerings totalled 6.4 million kg, a high for this time of the year, according to Forbes and Walkers Market report.
There was fair demand for the Leafy and Large Leaf teas.
The High and Medium Grown BOP/BOPF’s met with less demand with many withdrawals due to a lack of suitable bids.
A few select invoices in the Best Western BOP’s were firm, whilst the others declined by Rs.50 per kg and more following quality. Corresponding BOPF’s had a select range of invoices which sold firm and dearer following special inquiry, whilst the others declined by Rs.50-100 per kg.
High and Mid Grown CTC BP1s saw prices being irregular due to the limited availability of teas. Better teas were up to Rs.50 per kg easier, whilst the others were firm and lower to a lesser extent.
In the Tippy catalogue, a few Select Best FBOP’s were firm, whilst the balance were easier. (SD)
