Empire (PVT) Ltd was founded in 2000 and is run by an ardent tea lover. 

With an annual export volume of approximately 14 million kgs, Empire Teas (Pvt) Ltd, one of
Sri Lanka & #39;s top two exporters of Ceylon teas, was founded by third-generation tea master
Lushantha de Silva. Under its own brands, Thurson and Hyson, they provide a vast array of
value-added items to suit every taste, culture, mood, and occasion.
Empire Teas has been successful in marketing its products all over the world since its
founding, but especially to the USA, the UK, the Far East, the Middle East, Russia & CIS, and
other Eastern European nations.
Empire Teas, a company with certifications in IFS, BRCGS, FSSC 22000, ISO 9001, Organic,
Kosher, Halaal, and Fairtrade, employs a group of knowledgeable and passionate tea traders
with extensive backgrounds in grading, blending, tasting, and worldwide tea dealing.

Empire Brands
Empire Brands (Pvt) Ltd, a company within the Empire umbrella, supplies premium Ceylon
teas to countries all over the world. Lushantha De Silva, the Third Generation (1986) Master
Tea Taster and Blender, started the entity as Hyson Teas Pvt Ltd in 2002. With distribution

and exports to more than 40 countries globally, Empire Brands is catering to about 40
countries under the brands Hyson and Thurson.
Thurson teas
The family-run tea company Thurson Teas continues to uphold its illustrious 1936 heritage.
Trainee planter Thurson De Silva thought that immaculate tea leaves were the secret to a
perfect cup of tea. Lushantha De Silva, his grandson, began working in the tea business in
1986 and launched the Thurson Teas line in 2020. Thurson De Silva's values and the essence
of tea are embodied by the brand under Empire Teas. It provides the best tea blends, which
are a reflection of the De Silva family's love and commitment.
Thurson Teas was his grandfather's legacy and the result of three generations of tea-making
experience. Thurson Teas, which is owned by Empire Teas, is the epitome of Thurson De

Tea Avenue
The De Silva family, who have four generations of tea-drinking experience under their belt,
is the driving force behind Tea Avenue and has made it their mission to share their passion
with the country.

Empire Kenya

With the help of Lushantha's lifelong friend Thushara de Silva, who helped them form a
partnership, as well as his experience, knowledge, and unwavering support, Empire
launched their new endeavour in Mombasa. They realised how important it was to develop
a foothold in Kenya because of the tremendous demand for teas with African roots and
Kenya's prominence as a key exporter to the rest of the globe.
Since its founding in 2017, Empire Kenya, a division of the Empire Group, has sent more
than 22 million kilogrammes of tea worldwide in an effort to offer the greatest African
blends to a wide range of customers. More than 50 nations in Europe, Asia, the CIS, West
Africa, and Europe receive exports from Empire Kenya.
