Due to the global uncertainty, the Colombo rubber market remained somewhat depressed with local, end product manufacturers and rubber exporters showing lesser interest during the month of October 2023, Forbes and Walkers Brokers report stated on Tuesday.
The adverse weather condition that prevailed in the rubber growing areas, limited the number of tapping days and affected production, during the period under review.
1Xs reached Rs.850 per kg and No.1s was sold between Rs.750 to Rs.830. No.2 was sold between Rs.515- to Rs.575, price of Latex Crepe 3 was sold between Rs.510 to Rs.535 and Latex Crepe 4 was sold between Rs.480 to Rs.500 during the month.
Scarp Crepes 1X BR was sold between Rs.440 to Rs.500, Scarp Crepes 2X BR reached Rs.475, 3X BR reached Rs.470 , 4X BR reached Rs.450 while there was an improved demand for 2X BR, 3X BR and 4X BR during the period under review. An improved demand for top quality RSS1 was evident as the price of No.1’s reached Rs.610 in comparison with the last month of Rs.566 due to the wet weather and smallholders diverting latex to Centrifuge processing plants for manufacture.
