Sri Lankan tea production in November this year totaled 19.58 million kg showing a decline of 0.78 million kg compared to 20.36 million kg during the same period last year, Forbes and Walkers tea market report stated.
The High and Mid Grown elevations show an increase, whilst Low Grown elevation shows a decrease of 1.25 million kg in comparison with the corresponding period of 2022.
This drop is below the quantities produced in November 2021 when 20.06 million kg were produced indicating a drop of 0.48 million kg.
The report also notes that January – November 2023 cumulative production totaled 236.03 million kg, recording an increase of 3.90 million kg compared to 232.13 million kg during the same period in 2022. But the same period in 2021 recorded at 278.96 million kg that is a decrease of 42.93 million kg when compared to this year. (SD)
