Pin & Pam Fernando Trophy 2024 tees-off at RCGC celebrating Pin Fernando’s 100th birth anniversary

The feature Match-play tournament for members on handicap basis, conducted since 1979 celebrating the 100 years Anniversary of the Royal Colombo Golf Club in recognition of the undisputed champion of match-play the Late Pin Fernando, has an added milestone this year as the Qualifying Round is played on July 20^th -the 100^th Birth Anniversary of Pin Fernando. The Late Maestro Pin who won the RCGC Club Championship 19 times, a record still standing, 10 times Sri Lanka Amateur Golf Champion and winner All-India Amateur Golf Championship on two occasions among many other victories, is remembered by this Annual spectacle of match-play on handicap open to RCGC members with a 18 handicap and below.

The exciting Pin Fernando Trophy with over 100 entries already for 2024 commences with the Qualifying round to be played on two consecutive days on 19^th & 20^th July. The top 16 best net scores will qualify for the Match-play segment from Monday 22^nd July and the Finals will be played on Thursday, 25^th July 2024 at the RCGC. The Pam Fernando Trophy tournament celebrates 10 years, played on similar lines with the top 8 qualifiers playing match-play knock-out basis from the Quarter-final stage. The 2023 tournament was highly competitive with the high-level of interest and match-play excitement and the ultra-consistent Wenders Shieh won the Pin Fernando Trophy whilst Jennifer Simms clinched the Pam Fernando Trophy. The Pin and Pam Fernando Trophies are recognized as a board events and are once again proudly sponsored by United Tractor & Equipment, now managed by the 4^th Generation. Both the Pin Fernando Trophy and Pam Fernando Trophy action should not be missed from 20^th July to 25^th July 2024 at the RCGC.
