SLIC recognised at the Women Friendly Workplace Awards 2023

Sri Lanka Insurance (SLIC), was recognised at the recent Women Friendly Workplace awards 2023 under the special category for ‘Empowering Women Entrepreneurs with Life Insurance Agencies’.

The award ceremony was held recently at Marriot Courtyard, Colombo and the award was accepted by the senior management of Sri Lanka Insurance. The award ceremony was jointly organised by AICPA, CIMA & Satyn.  Furthermore, Namalee A. Silva Deputy General Manager/ Head of Marketing and Business Development was nominated in the category of “She Wins” individual awards showcasing her achievements nd commitment as a female professional, SLIC said in a media release.

Chandana L. Aluthgama, Chief Executive officer of Sri Lanka Insurance said to be able to empower women to become entrepreneurs is a great accomplishment as an organisation. “Winning the award for ‘Empowering Women Entrepreneurs with Life Insurance Agencies’ at the Women Friendly Workplace awards 2023 manifest our efforts as a company. Furthermore, we ensure that the organisation’s culture endorses gender diversity, equality and inclusivity to make Sri Lanka Insurance a women friendly workplace. Women form a critical part of SLIC’s employee base right from the top and the company is committed to create a safe and equal workplace where they can thrive,” he said.

Rohitha Amarapala, Deputy General Manager Human Resource and Administration of SLIC added, “We are proud of the fact that 50 per cent of the workforce at Sri Lanka Insurance is represented by women. We have continuously encouraged our female workforce through engendering gender equality practices and providing equal opportunities to excel in their careers. Also I would like to congratulate Namalee A. Silva for being nominated in the ‘She Wins’ category for her exceptional dedication to the company and for going the extra mile and setting an example to all career women.”
